Digital Photography Digital Darkroom
Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Week 6

This week we worked on additional photo correction tools like Gamma Adjustment, Curves, and the Histogram.

This is my original photo of the San Francisco Bay Bridge. The City is usually overcast. The distance that this photo was taken, along with the weather conditions made for a rather bland photo.

I used gamma correction on this image.
Settings: R-.72, G-.72, B-.66

We took this photo last night. It's a rare opportunity that all of us are together. We all went to high school together (well, the grown-ups did). I took the picture on my Fuji with the timer. I wish that it had been a bit more centered, but there is no darkroom technique for that. The photo was a bit dark, so I used Curves to adjust it. You can see the faces of the group now. I also had to remove a lot of red eye from the kids eyes. I do think that I need to lower the green channel a bit, but I want to look at the image on a regular monitor.
Yes, back to the cows again. Used the histogram funcion and curves on this. I think it's done the best job with the sorry background out of all the tools that we have learned.
