10/17/02 - Alien Skin's Image Doctor - This is a Photoshop compatible filter that removes, scratches, blemishes, defects and even objects from photos. It also repairs JPEG photos that have been over-compress. All I can say is WOW. I downloaded the demo of the program and it does what it claims to do. Check out the examples. This is not a free program, the side-grade cost (pricing available if you own another Alien Skin program) of $99.00.
10/3/02 - Cool Ruler - Another handy ruler for measuring items on your computer screen. it can measure in inches, centimeters, or pixels. It's very handy when you want a precise measurement of a graphic or another object on your screen.
Link Popularity Check - A program that checks various search engines to see if you are listed and how popular your site is. Very easy to use.
AM-Deadlink - This program searches through your Favorites/Bookmarks and detects dead links. It will then remove the dead links from your Favorites/Bookmarks. The program works with Internet Explorer, Netscape, and Opera. Easy way to clean up your favorites folder.
Matrix Y2K - A nice text editor that includes syntax highlighting, link verification, image browsing, FTP integration, formatting tools, a table wizard, a character map and more. It's a small download, the interface is a lot like TextPad and it's free.
6/17/02 - HTML Kit - This fully functional, free HTML editor is one of the nicest free editors that I've seen in a long time. It has the look and feel of HomeSite (a popular HTML editor now owned by Macromedia). Tags (HTML, CSS, & XML) can be inserted into HTML documents from pull down menus. The HTML kit also includes a program called HTML Tidy that reviews existing HTML tags, corrects them and prepares HTML documents for CSS. It will also automatically convert all tags to uppercase, remove and correct depreciated tags and covert "\" to "/". There is also a Tidy version for Mac.
6/8/02 - Xat.com's Web Speed Simulator - If you use a high speed connection when designing web sites it's difficult to tell whether your pages will take a long time to download over slower dial-up connections. This nifty little program will simulate slower connection speeds so you can actually see how long it will take to download a page at 28.8, etc. This site also has a variety of image optimizers that are very helpful.
