Diversity Week - Bournemouth & Poole College, Dorset, England
3/25/04 - Today we had an extraordinary opportunity to video conference with a group of students and their instructor, Jim Kelly, from Bournemouth & Poole College in Dorset, England. Their school was celebrating diversity and wanted to learn more about similar schools in the United States. If you are interested in learning more about Bournemouth & Poole College, visit their web site at http://www.thecollege.co.uk/ie.htm or http://www.intops.com/. To learn more about the beautiful coastal county of Dorset visit http://www.dorsetcc.gov.uk/.
Our students gained knowledge of video conferencing as a method of communication, but more importantly they learned about the culture, academic life, and job market abroad. We exchanged information on college and ROP courses, job expectations and the job market, sports, music, films, television, theatre, leisure and holiday destinations, food, and politics.
My students and I are looking forward to continuing our partnership with our friends abroad.

Dr. Ovick welcomes the students from England.

We had a few problems with the sound on the video conferencing technology, so Robin resorted to using the speaker phone.
