This is one of my favorite spring garden flowers, the icelandic poppy. I was on vacation the week of the 17th and I spent the majority of my time working in the garden. We purchased our home last August and I hadn’t done much with the yard besides general maintenance since we moved in. My goal on vacation was to create an outdoor living space that Rob and I could come home to and feel like we were “away”. I planted a variety of flowers and plants: poppies, geraniums, bougainvillea, lavendar, daisies, sutera cordata, nemesia, bacopa, alyssum, mallow, lilies, gladiolus, freesia, a mock orange, and a variety of other plants and colorful annuals.
I had forgotten how much I enjoyed playing in the dirt. I had also forgotten how much I enjoyed close up floral photography. It’s funny how we get so busy with work and life and the first thing that we tend to push to the side are those little things that relax and make us feel good.
One of the other things that I’ve always enjoyed doing is visiting other photographer’s web sites. Have you been to Taking Your Camera on the Road? This wonderful site chronicles the adventures of Lorelle and Brent VanFossen as they travel the nation in a fifth wheel. You’ll also find terrific photography tips and amazing imagery.
